Astemo’s solutions
The Astemo Group will develop an internet of vehicle (IoV) platform that leads the development of the software-driven vehicles (SDVs) era, utilizing advanced computing technology as well as advanced network and digital technology. By doing so, we are contributing to the continuous evolution of automobiles.
In SDVs, multiple ECUs that were previously distributed throughout the vehicle are being consolidated into a centralized, high-performance computing platform.
We are also building an IoV platform that separates software and hardware, providing an engineering cloud that accelerates continuous evolution. We are creating new value by leveraging our strengths in advanced sensing technology and cross-domain integrated control, which integrates all motion control functions, including driving, stopping, and turning.
In the course of these developments, we leverage AI to maximize development efficiency and deliver new functions and value for more sophisticated autonomous driving (AD) and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). We are also working to build a development environment that aggregates data collected from vehicles operating in society and uses it to improve and enhance software in a data-driven manner.
The Astemo Group will contribute to realizing value creation through our overwhelming speed.
Development of digital human capital
Since FY2021, the Astemo Group has been implementing its own initiatives to develop DX human capital in support of its business plan.
In FY2024, we defined the roles necessary for DX promotion (leaders, promoters, and users). With the aim of improving employees' digital skills and fostering a digital culture within the company, we conducted training that included strengthening leadership, understanding digital tools, and learning about business transformation case studies. This initiative is planned to continue until 2029.
Utilization of IP
The Intellectual Property Group continues to promote its activities from the IP governance perspective based on two codes of conduct: "Protecting our own IP and respecting the IP of other companies" and "Enhancing our own brand value."
Under Astemo's newly formulated MISSION, VISION, and VALUES and the policy of the Technology Development Functional Division, which is the higher-level organization of the Intellectual Property Group, the Intellectual Property Group has set a policy of "using intellectual property to enhance corporate value and contribute to the growth of stakeholders." It has the following three missions.
- Ensuring freedom of business and design
- Utilizing intellectual property information
- Creating new value that contributes to society with intellectual property
We believe the source of these achievements lies in our human capital and high-quality inventions. Therefore, we provide education by preparing tools that enable a better understanding and expression of one's own inventions, including approaches to invention and methods for expanding inventions, and by providing lectures on how to use these tools. In the practical aspects of inventing, an officer of the Intellectual Property Group supports an inventor in differentiating the invention from prior art, leading to the filing of patent applications. Before filing, we hold an invention improvement meeting—attended by not only the inventor but also design and development experts—to improve the quality of the technology and invention from the perspective of synergy with related technologies and business, and to confirm whether the invention can contribute to the business. We also promote the utilization of intellectual property information for technology strategies, business strategies, and the creation of new value. With the introduction of a new information analysis tool in FY2024, we are accelerating and spreading this initiative.
By strengthening our intellectual property portfolio as a management resource, mainly consisting of patents and especially through the intellectual propertization of technologies that solve social issues and contribute to the environment, we provide support in becoming a company that is needed by customers.
